Our company works hard to ensure that people who live and work in proximity of our pipeline systems do so in a safe manner. We’ve employed several measures to prevent individuals from causing damage to pipelines which could result in injury, death or environmental contamination.
Even though underground pipelines are identified with pipeline markers, one cause of pipeline leaks is damage caused by earth-moving and construction equipment and tools owned by parties other than the pipeline company.
Are you planning work that will disturb the ground?
-
If you plan to dig or do any type of excavation or construction work, call 811 or visit a few days prior to digging. Your call will be routed to your local One Call Center.
-
Tell the operator where you're planning to dig and what type of work you will be doing. Your affected local utility companies will be notified about your intent to dig. Every digging job requires a call, even small projects like planting trees and shrubs. The depth of utility lines varies and there may be multiple lines in a common area. Digging without calling 811 can disrupt service to an entire neighborhood, harm you and those around you, and potentially result in fines and repair costs.
-
Within a few days after an 811 call, a locator will be dispatched at no cost to you to mark the approximate location of your underground lines, pipes and cables, so you'll know what's below—and be able to dig safely.
The One-Call Ticket Process:
-
Once you , you will be directed to your local One Call center.
-
The applicable One Call center will obtain dig information, such as location of work, type of work and timelines.
-
The One Call center will create a work ticket based on the dig information and will identify and notify owners of buried infrastructure that are members of One Call that have facilities near the proposed work site.
-
If 91Â鶹 has been identified as an operator in the area, we will receive the ticket and make contact with the requester, or visit a site within two working days (unless alternate arrangements have been made) to mark the location of buried lines (if applicable).
